I'm just sitting; looking through all of the Facebook posts of September 11, 2001,making sure we should not forget. But who could forget? For everyone beyond a certain age, this moment is permanently etched into our memories. And as I read through the posts of my friends, I feel silent tears fall down my face as I relive with them the utter disbelief of the moment as if it had just happened yesterday. My heart aches almost as much as it did 14 years ago.
I will choose to be silent and say a prayer at 8:46 am tomorrow. I will also choose to remember how that horrific day brought us closer as a country, as people, as humans. I will choose to serve others tomorrow, as so many of those did who lost their lives that day. I will be kinder, gentler, more patient and understanding. And then I will say another prayer and pray that I am afforded the opportunity to continue to serve others.
What will you do?
In love, Cristal
